Dear Reader:
Welcome to my website and Namaste (nah-mes-tay).
Namaste is a hello and goodbye Nepali greeting, with hands together as if in prayer and a bow of the head, that means "The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you."
Nepal lies higher than any other country in the world except Tibet and straddles the Himalayan rampart for nearly 400 miles. However our group did not seek to set a world's record. While the youngest of the U.S. trekkers was 42, I was the oldest at 67. The others were in their early 60s.
Instead of a world's record, we came back with a sense of wonder and fulfillment.
Amrit Ale's company served as our guide and porters. Be sure to click on his website: www.himalayanquests.com Not only was Amrit an amazing leader, he is also a man of character and intelligence and showed sensitivity, kindness and goodness of heart throughout the combined three weeks together both on the medical camp and the Himalayan trek. He has a vast knowledge of the topography and folklore that made our journey so fascinating.
To explain the main purpose of this trip to Nepal in mid-April 2013 I was part of a team of six from the U.S., along with six Nepali medical providers, who traveled from Kathmandu on an 11-hour bus ride to reach two remote villages to provide medical care to more than 1,550 patients in 5 1/2 days. If interested you will find our joint experience documented here: www.nepalmedicalcamp.weebly.com
The year before, in 2012, I walked alone across Spain on the Camino de Santiago: www.Linscaminodesantiago.weebly.com

I hope you enjoy reading about my travels.
